Open morning....success!

Some photos from our open morning.

The children learnt lots about veg growing and enjoyed getting their hands muddy and we enjoyed watching the beds fill up with plants! Pots were decorated, faces painted and hot dogs were munched. Thank you to everyone that came!

Also a big big thank you to Alison From Leicestershire Master Gardeners, Pauline and Helen who helped-we couldn't have done it without you!!!

I will be dropping an email to all those who were interested in having access to the plot shortly.

Open morning

We have been working hard promoting our open morning this Saturday 4th July 10am-12noon. The Melton Times have covered the event and Leicestershire Master Gardeners helped by giving out posters at their stall at the Country Fair last weekend. We hope the day will be a success and many new people get involved in the project.

Just a reminder of directions for those that haven't visited before:-

There is limited parking available, follow the road from Ferneley Crescent towards the country park. Continue under the height barrier-follow this track straight on and you will find parking on the right.

If parking at Willow drive car park you will spot the pyramid climbing frame ahead at Scalford brook play park. Head towards the play park, over the bridge, continue up the adjacent hill and we are on the left.

We hope to see you there!

Busy Spring

We've not posted for a while, not because we've not been working our socks off but because the allotment has grown a new addition-we had a new baby in October!

Despite this little thing taking up a lot of our time and energy, things have been progressing, keep your eyes peeled for news of our first open day of the year! We are hoping it will be early next month and we plan to have some activities for children and families to get involved in to give people an idea of what we are about.

The community bed is still full of weeds but we're keeping our fingers crossed that we will gain some volunteers willing to take on the task(!) In the meantime we have the raised beds, half of which are ready to plant in and the polytunnel is beginning to go up.

I will update with some recent photos and more details of the open day shortly!

As ever, if you would like to volunteer or know of a group that would like to use the plot, give us a call on 07725 882496 or email communityallotmentmelton@gmail.com
